COVID-19 Rapid Test available

By Lesley Atkinson

Kenner Army Health Clinic will now offer a free at-home COVID-19 test every Friday starting March 11 to all Kenner beneficiaries.

One can receive up to eight tests every 30 days. The At-home COVID-19 tests are tests that a person can take at home and get results without sending a sample to a laboratory.

How to pick up testing kits:
Kenner is offering walk-ins from 1-3 p.m. every Friday starting March 11 until further notice. Please go to Kenner's first-floor breakroom and show either a Uniformed Services ID or Common Access Card to receive the free test kits.  Beneficiaries can pick up tests for Kenner enrolled family members. Please have their DODID number to expedite the process.

These tests are easy to use and produce rapid results. For the most current guidance on when to take an at-home COVID-19 test and next steps based on the results of the test, visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/testing/self-testing.html

Note: Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order four free tests per household and can be found online at www.covidtests.gov. Some restrictions may apply, please check the website for details.

If one uses the at-home test and the results are positive for COVID-19, they should report they are positive test results to their health care provider. The health care team will provide self-care actions the beneficiary can take at home or other possible treatment options.
