Mental Health & Substance Abuse

The Kenner Army Health Clinic Behavioral Health team wants you to know they have many services available to support active duty service members (ADSM) and their families. These services include therapy and treatment via the Multi-Disciplinary Clinic, Substance Use Disorder Clinical Care (SUDCC) Clinic, and the Family Advocacy Program-Clinical (FAP-C). For dependent children under the age of 17, Child/Adolescent/Family Behavioral Health Services (CAFBHS) is available to provide care.

The mission of Kenner Behavioral Health is to get Soldiers back to being Army ready by offering many helpful programs. For active duty service members, most visits are self-referral with occasional command-directed visits. The clinic has walk-in services available during operating hours, Monday thru Friday, for ADSMs experiencing an acute crisis. If there is an acute emergency outside of duty hours or a higher level of care is required, the ADSM will refer to the nearest emergency room.

Retirees and adult family members access behavioral health services through the Tricare network. This includes services like individual therapy, medication, and marital therapy. They do not need a referral or prior authorization for any outpatient mental health (except psychoanalysis) or substance use disorder care. Retirees and family members can get a list of Tricare network behavioral health providers on the Humana Military website ( and then contact the provider’s office directly to schedule an appointment.

Kenner Behavioral Health underscores that anyone with questions about the availability of services should call during business hours.
